Aucklanders. In early 2014 we built three compact, architect-designed homes at Hobsonville Point for you to visit. Then we asked you if size is still as important to you as living in a well-designed, well-built house in a good neighbourhood.
The Small Home Test Lab is now closed and the homes have been successfully sold, but you can still check out the homes on this website, read visitors' feedback and download the plans.
The test homes may not seem large but we think you’ll be surprised how spacious they feel. See the Design page for more.
The project is led by Hobsonville Land Company, but we have had lots of support. Isthmus group together with Architecture Workshop designed the homes, Classic Builders funded, built and own them, our development partner AVJennings found us a suitable site and Auckland Council helped explore the planning implications and helped us through the consent process.
The Small Home Test Lab has been created to find innovative ways to provide 20% of the homes built at Hobsonville Point at an 'affordable' price. The price cap for affordable homes here is currently $485,000.
